NCTA’s school-based speech-language pathologists are responsible for identifying, assessing, and treating communication disorders that impact a student’s educational performance. Their primary goal is to help students develop and improve their communication skills, which in turn enhances academic performance and social interaction.
Our therapists’ responsibilities include evaluating and diagnosing various disorders related to speech, language, cognitive-communication, and social skills. They develop and implement individualized therapy plans, providing therapy services to students both individually and in groups. Collaboration with teachers, parents, and other professionals is a crucial aspect of their role.
Our therapists’ assess and address communication challenges, including:
- Articulation (helping students produce speech sounds correctly)
- Language (addressing receptive and expressive skills)
- Fluency (treating stuttering and related disorders)
- Voice (addressing issues with vocal quality, pitch, and volume)
- Social communication (improving pragmatic language skills)
- Cognitive-communication (addressing thinking and communication skills)
- Implementing Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems for non-verbal students.
